Since May 2018, this bump right at the nape of my neck formed out of the blue. I've never had a bump occur in that location in my life. At first, it didn't hurt, but I'd touch it delicately if I wanted to feel it. It swelled, lasted a pretty long time 2-3 weeks, then gradually went away. I assume it was maybe a clogged hair follicle. You still couldn't notice it by just looking at the area though. I've told/showed my general dr about it at the beginning & she didn't say anything.

Since then it's happened a few more times off & on & in between each time, it would be gone for some weeks, but then develop again to about the size of a dime or maybe a nickel. About the 3rd time it happened, it oozed liquid, but again, went away very slowly.

Now it's Feb 2019 & the bump's back again for about the 5th or 6th time, but I think more painful than ever before & it's lasting a long time. This time though, I feel this odd indentation in my head right above the bump in which my fingertip can fit right in it.

Don't know if this is connected, but since about a year prior, I've suffered on & off dizziness/vertigo-type feeling, so this bump maybe not have initially caused dizziness, but I'm wondering is it contributing to the dizziness I feel these days now?

I've been seeing a neurologist 2x over the past few mos & I think I should tell him about this bump on the next appt I'll have in 2 mos.

Does anyone have any suggestions, solutions, etc.? TIA.

You need to have a doctor actually look at it and ask him/her.

Your family MD, start there. Make an appt. They might want to send you for biopsy. How come you've waited so long???

You should know the drill here by now...no one here can diagnose it.

Whatever it is is not going to go away by ignoring it. Could be something simple like a cyst, something moderately more serious like an abscess; possibilities are huge. Just find out and deal with it once and for all. Chances are the longer you put it off the more involved treatment will get.

If your neurologist doesn't know what it is after looking, or doesn't want to treat it, go see a dermatologist. If it's a cyst or abscess, they can treat it (remove it) right then and there. If it seems abnormal to them, they will do a biopsy just to be sure. Go when it's present, they can't give an opinion on something they can't see.

Your gp/family doctor should look at it. A neurologist won't treat this even if they know what it is - because he's a NEUROLOGIST.

People need to stop going to specialists for every little thing - in this case, even going to a dermatologist is overkill. A general doctor can handle 90% of things and if not, then THEY can refer you and get you in to a specialist sooner. It will be cheaper not going to a specialist if unnecessary.

Don't ask us, we can't see it or diagnosis it if we could

Instead of yelling at the OP, notice that this was in the post.
