a little girl in my church has a ring worm and her mother covers it so it wouldn't be exposed to everyone, but I thought it suppose to be opened to heal faster. anyone know if the healing process is delayed when it is covered?
When I was a little girl I had ringworm on my scalp. I had to wear a bonnet on my head so it would not be spread to others. It was mandatory I wear it at pre-school. So covering prevents spreading it. At least 50 years ago that was the norm.
are there any home remedies to aid in getting rid of ringworms?
It's a fungus not a worm. Put some lotrimin (anti-fungal) on it which one can buy at the supermarket. It'll be gone within a few days. Tell her to wash her clothes in hot water before wearing them again so she doesn't reinfect herself. Also towels.
The best treatment for ringworm is BlueStar Ointment. I used to work in a veterinary hospital as a college student and dealt with ringworm a lot from kittens. The ointment cleared it up within a couple of days.
Equal-Opp...she probably just covers it while she is out......it's easy to get rid of.....As a child my siblings and I would occasionally get it...probably from the cattle...it's bothersome, but easily dealt with.
My daughter had one on her neck, I used some tea tree oil I bought at Whole Foods and twice a day dabbed some on it. It cleared it up fast and I'd use it again on my kids. My neighbor's daughter had athlete's foot and we used it on her feet, problem solved. Same with my husband. Only he doesn't like the smell of tea tree oil. lol

Great advice..but it takes longer than a few days to get rid of ringworm..it's more like weeks of treatment.

Not for me and I had it in several spots on my shoulders and upper back. Was gone within a week. In fact the doctor told me to come back in two weeks if it didn't so obviously his expectation was it would.
