Genetics? Not so much unless someone has a specific genetic thing they are passing through the generations. Regular doctor visits? Everyone I know that is healthy avoids the doctor.

Yes, my son's doctor said that her father was a doctor and always said that! When she moved away, I told the new doctor I was using homeopathic medications for my son with special needs, he said "They work, my mother uses them."

My mother had breast cancer, I have never had a mammogram (seriously, I suspect the reason they find breast cancer with these is after so many, they create it) after reading about them. Never had the flu shot. Understand what is healthy and what is not. Also had the benefit of knowing an experienced RN with many years of practice verify much of what I have read as being the truth but "You aren't supposed to know that."

No tests, no flu shots, no Big Pharma poisons! Alive and thriving at 63, still mothering a 31 year old with Down syndrome (no meds, no flu shots) and 2 senior dogs (no meds and only rabies shots per the law).

Also, no problem going through menopause, thanking learning about going through menopause "naturally", everyone should be informed about that method even if they choose the Big Pharma route.

Over 1 million Americans are on psychotropic drugs, this includes many children.

Go to the doctor if healthy, catch something while waiting for 1.5 hours in the waiting room of 6 doctors who all have sick patients sitting next to you? No thanks, I'll pass!

My 50s were great, "the youth of old age"! Personal responsibility plays such a big part in one's health!

Yep, I could hit by a truck this afternoon, but there are worse ways to die, think Big Pharma or the Medical Machine. Medical "mistakes" are VERY high!

You take all the junk science (mostly) and use that. You eat keto (I know a lot disagree that it is bad) missing out on all kinds of healthy nutrients that help you heal.

A good doctor could give you back your life. You could clean your house, get rid of the walker, go outside, drive...... Not guaranteed, but you would have a much better chance and save tons of money not buying all those supplements.

PLUS you buy supplements from ebay, a place inundated with knock-offs from China (you can't tell, they mimic them perfectly).

You choose to injest ONE antioxidant, instead of eating lots of fruits and vegetables which contain millions.

Despite the fact that 30% of supplements tested contain "noting" you are convinced (by belief) that yours aren't.

Part of me feels bad for you, but you have made your choices and won't listen to anyone.
Oh please don't feel sorry for me and don't compare me to your mother. I think too I'm about 10 yrs older than your mom. Whatever bearing that has.

How could a good doctor give me back my life. Do a knee replacement, take my leg...what do you think they can do for me. I've done their cortisone, their HA injections, not their celebrex, and don't want that drug. So tell me what "can a good doctor do for me"..

And don't go to where I buy my supplements, MOSTLY from reputable suppliers...iburprofen non dye from ebay .... please don't mind my business. And I eat lots of veggies and fruits. You are putting a lot of words out there about me to suit yourself.

Oh and I guess I can go off grape seed extract and get sore throats back and allergies and then go live on sudafed and lord knows what else. And go back to allergy MD's....No Thanks.

Good to hear your story and hearing another Good Sense person's choices.

Some here think they know what's best for me. Here at 79...

My general health is good and my OA issues all worse since a MEDICAL hip replacement in 2010...turned my body kinda upside down with more OA and pain with the side effects from that surgery.

Are you seriously saying that mammograms cause breast cancer? Explain to me why women find out they have breast cancer at their FIRST mammogram including myself? And no, don't pull out the "family history" excuse. No one in my family had or has breast cancer.

Are you claiming that women are not told how to "go through menopause naturally"? By their mothers, sisters, aunts, friends? Every woman goes through it unless they have had all hormone-producing organs removed, its not some big secret conspiracy. I don't know any women who didn't do it naturally.

If only, having osteoarthritis all throughout the body, would be as easy as seeing a 'good doctor'!!!

AllisonHB: I'll mention "my take" on mammography from my long life and knowing my mother and aunts NEVER had these tests and none had BC. And if there was cancer cells in their breasts they were NOT attacked by those machines. These tests are controversial to this day.

I don't know about cardiac deaths ... & I do know this isn't the GD forum so I won't engage a debate about it here ...

But I did have that theory about cancer & SV40 for those born prior to 1963. With the highest risk group being those born between 1955-1963.

If you die the first or second time the cancer comes, neither you nor your family will ever know what it was. But if you refuse to die despite it returning multiple times? You will be on prophylactic chemo off & on for the rest of your life. For free, in exchange for research purposes.

Because of the particular cancers latency periods the rise in cancer deaths would be for brain: 1960's-1970's. Bone: 1970's-1990's. NHL: 1980's-? & lung: early 200's -?.

* Ugh. Back to edit again: Recent research suggesting Renal (kidney) & a certain type of Breast.

So your mom is 79, I thought you mentioned 70 somewhere not that it matters, still don't appreciate being compared to anyone.

No she is 75. She camps, goes to amusement parks, white water rafter, canoeing....

You make your choices, which is everyone's right, but trying to convince others that all these supplements will give good health when it is not working well for you could prevent them from getting the appropriate help.

You started grape seed because you once read it might help with cancer. You are just another pill popper, Rx or supplements, you are looking for a miracle in a pill. The only difference is Rx contains what is advertised, your supplements don't, and you don't even care. Good healthy food like veggies and fruits contain millions of things that improve your health and prevent cancer, yet you hardly touch those. At least you said you eat keto, but also things like pretzels which negate the keto.

I think what we are seeing mostly is the placebo effect, if someone believes something, sometimes that is enough. But what you are finding is that is not always enough, sometimes you need a trained professional.

And Dr. Google is not one. Every whack job in the world has a website. You do know how page views and advertising work right?

Jam I would love for you to go to a real doctor, go to your physical therapy and get better.
