Ok, I don't know if I was just overly tired last night, or what was happening, but I looked at myself in the mirror, I could see every vein showing blue through my skin, I mean every vein, capillary, etc, all over, my stomach, torso, back, up to my neck. Ordinarily, I'm fair to medium, have blue eyes, red/blond hair, and fairly white skin, but I've never seen my veins like that. It was like my skin had turned into tissue paper. I swear, I thought I saw blood moving through the veins, it was that transparent.

I don't look like that today, I thought perhaps my BP was high, but everything checked out normal--normal blood pressure, normal blood sugar, but it was like blue spiderwebs were painted all over my body! Wonder what it could be?

I remember looking like that when I was pregnant, but that's the only time I can think of.

Could be the way you were standing or something.

You do know where the term blue blood most likely came from, right? WAY back in the day, the aristocrats used to be extremely pale from not really ever going outside. People whose veins were closer to the surface appeared to have "blue blood."

Ok, I don't sun bathe, so guess my torso area could be extremely pale. But it still freaked me out, I mean, you could see all the blood vessels zig zag across my torso, chest, arms, legs, it was bizzare!

Today I can't see them so prominantly, but they are still there. perhaps just the light?

Yes, I know, way back aristocrats thought their blood was blue because it appeared blue through their skin. But with their habit of cutting each other's head off, didn't they realize all blood comes out the same?

I've had that happen before. For some reason your blood vessels were dilated. If it went away I wouldn't worry about it.

I've heard that's from dehydration. Be sure to drink lots of water!

Well, blood is blue when it is not oxygenated. The vessels you were seeing were veins, which lie closer to the skin than arteries. Now, arteries *are* oxygentated, so if those were blue--you would have a serious problem. Yet, it is difficult to see your arteries clearly through your skin.

However, the fact that you can see the veins when you usually can't can be a bit of a concern--perhaps you were dehydrated as someone earlier suggested. I think that might be the most probable explanation. Just don't worry that they're blue--that is entirely normal.
