Hi, I'm new to this just stumbled upon this site whilst looking at something else on Google.
I have a 17month baby daughter. She was diagnosed with Heartblock whilst in the womb - she had a pacemaker fitted at birth. She was in Gt.Ormond st hosp for 5 weeks and had to have pacemaker changed as she got an infection. It was a huge rollercoaster of emotions but she's doing really well now. I spend 99.9% of my time worrying frantically about her & reading stuff on the Internet I probably shouldn't!.
I worry as she also has a hole in her heart- cardiologist says its one which won't close on its own & she will have to have open heart surgery to close it when she has her next pacemaker at about 3/4 years- I'm scared to death about this because of the complications this can cause especially as her heart already has problems- please has anybody been through this too? X

Not with family but I worked in a hospital neuro rehab unit. It was common for people with PFOs to have a stroke, find out they had a PFO and get it fixed. For an adult it is relatively safe surgery. Does your DD have the a PFO or something else?
