Ok, not sure if this is the right forum/sub-forum, so feel free to move if needed.

Does anyone feel they get medicinal value from things that shouldn't provide any?
Mine is milk. When I have a headache, I drink 2 or 3 glasses of milk. Headache goes away. When I feel a cold coming on, same deal. Even when I have a stomach ache, milk seems to "cure" it. I've been doing this for 20+ years and it seems to work about 90% of the time.

I have no idea if there is any shred of evidence out there that supports milk as having healing powers for the above common ailments, but it sure seems to work for me.

Anyone else experience anything like this??

I would doubt that milk, per se, is helping you . . . my guess would be that perhaps you are dehydrated (one of the first things to do when you have a headache is hydrate) and the milk helps with that, or maybe it is your "intention" that it is some kind of miracle remedy for you that does the trick.

I don't think it would be related to being dehydrated, though I can certainly see the logic in that.
The gist of my post was to see what types of things people found had medical benefits to them that aren't really intended to.
I thought of it because I wasn't feeling well this AM (upset stomach) and as I always do when I don't feel well, had 2 glasses of milk and now I feel better.
Milk just seems to cure lots of little ailments for me. Cheaper than a doctor visit / prescription too

I'm not sure about that, but ok if it works for you. Sex definitely puts me in a good mood, but I don't think it's ever helped me fight off an illness

Extremely spicy food: Laxative
Antihistamines: Stress (when they're supposed to cure allergies)
Peppermint or Wintergreen: Nausea (for some reason whenever I feel nauseated, I crave peppermint.. even if the cause of the nausea has nothing to do with lack of peppermint like say getting carsick.)

Best cure for nausea - a cup of steaming hot water.
Best sleep aid: magnesium with a glass of warm milk. Or a cup of Horlicks. Knocks me out.
