My husband went to an ENT recently for an earache. When they did the exam, they mentioned he had a deviated septum, and one nasal passage was really blocked. They asked if he had ever broken his nose (he has not). He does occasionally snore though, which is another sign.

The doctor recommended surgery to correct it. Has anyone had this? What is it like? Outpatient procedure? Recovery time? Pain involved?

Thanks in advance.

Husband had it done.
He didn't just snore a little. It was a lot and stopped pretty much completely (as did tthe sleep apnea)
Outpatient, yes.The biggest discomfort was the packing post-surgery.
All together, I don't remember that this involved much more than a week.

Yes, 40 years ago. Then it was in-patient surgery with a couple days post-op in the hospital.

Went through college, a couple bar fights, AOCS and flight school and never had a problem. About 10 years ago I broke up a fight between another teacher and a student (teacher's fault, it ended up being his last day) and got my nose broken, again. It's now crooked, but not as bad as before I had the surgery.
