Does anyone know how many hours of sleep you need to properly function. I can't get a full 8 because my 2 jobs. I get get about 3 hours in the morning and 3 hours at night but I'm switching so I now can get a full 5 and a half does it help me any at all?
I'd say it depends on the person and the jobs. How do you feel throughout the day? If you still feel tired than it's not enough, but I wouldn't try and fix it by loading up on energy drinks or food, that'll just make you sick.
Everyone has a different need. Most seem to average around 8 hrs. I personally feel best with 10 hrs and have for most of my life. Others can get by with 6-7. But 5" Don't think so.
Oh, lord! Do you really need to work that hard?
It may be bad for your health if you don't sleep enough all the time.
For me sometimes even 8 hrs isn't enough, because I often have light sleep
What I'm asking I guess is this what is better 2 different naps that last 3 hours a peices or just one full 5 1/2 sleep.
The two naps are fine for awhile, I do it regularly with school during the day and work at night. However, I need a full day's/night's sleep at least once a week to refresh myself.
I think at some point your body needs that extended period of sleep to reach the important stages 4 & 5 of the sleep cycle, and may not always get it in short three hour spurts.
Like other posters mentioned, everybody has different needs when it comes to their sleep. I do however, believe, that 5.5 hours of sleep would be much better than 2 different naps. Also, there was a sleep specialist on Dr. Oz show, who was saying how there is a certain hormone I believe ( forgot its name ) that's largely produced at night while we sleep, and helps restore our body. Anyway, it is recomended that people get minimum of 6 hours of sleep. Here is some interesting info:
A recent survey found that more people are sleeping less than six hours a night, and sleep difficulties visit 75% of us at least a few nights per week. A short-lived bout of insomnia is generally nothing to worry about. .....
While more research is needed to explore the links between chronic sleep loss and health, its safe to say that sleep is too important to shortchange.
