My grandfather lived to age 96----and rarely took any drugs. he died from a stroke while shoveling snow. Active and self-sufflcient 'till the end. The few times my mother could manage to drag him to the doctor, they all had the same reaction---you don't tak ANY drugs? why not, he lived almost a centruy without them! I just wish i had inherited his genes!
I think high blood pressure meds may be in my future though, my mother got it when she was around my age and my numbers have been slowly creeping up there.
I need to amend my earlier post. You guys reminded me.
I did take anti-baby meds and menopause meds {HRT} once upon a time, but I am not taking anything now.
I just didn't think of them as being drugs that you take for an illness.
And....... I could/should be taking something like Fosamax to help prevent osteoporosis.....but I feel I can afford to wait a few years, the possible side effects scare me. I am hoping that they refine the meds by the time I feel I should take them.
I'm on none and I live with an autoimmune illness and several heart conditons, yet I take nothing but use compression stockings and some vitamin supplements. THe medications always made me feel worse and after a bad bout of going into adrenal failure from being pulled off prednisone too fast last year I've tried to avoid all meds like the plauge. Oh and I'm 29
