I don't know where to post this topic, but this is the closest I could find.
I've had good skin all of my life (at least, no random breakouts or anything). During this past year (my sophomore year in college), I began breaking out on my neck around mid-october. They started off as three circular bite marks on my neck. I assumed something bit me in my sleep, but there's no way of telling. I washed it and put some cream on it, but the marks kept spreading and spreading. What was a little area on my neck became bigger and bigger, and more marks kept coming. The marks weren't red anymore either; they started becoming a dark brown (I'm brown skinned, and they were darker than my original skin color). I went to the dermatologist and he told me I had pityriasis rosea. I looked it up online and it said it should go away in 4-8 weeks.
My neck healed up, although there are scars that I'm self conscious about. Then my left hand started breaking out, with the same look as my neck. I went to the dermatologist again and he said it was eczema
. I've never had eczema in my life, and from my understanding it's inherited. And I also know that pityriasis comes once your whole life, so I don't think I was diagnosed correctly either time. I put tape over the affected areas of my hand and the marks went away (but now the area where the marks were have a shiny tint.
Note: My dorm bed is lofted, and my bed is next to a vent. Could dust be triggering this outbreak? That's the only logical explanation I could come up with. I don't have bedbugs or anything on my bed. I just want this to go away so I can get my confidence back.
