I've been talking Prozac for a long while. I stopped recently, and I had some side - effects afterwards like not having period etc. But it's all good now. I was doing various researches and I've asked my pshichiatrists is Prozac a bad medication, but they've all answered no. They said that they consider it safe, and that in won't damage the liver etc. Has anybody heard anything negative about Prozac?

There is a book written by esteemed psychiatrist Dr. Joseph Glenmullen (You may also have heard of Prozac Nation, by Elizabeth Wurtzel). Those are extreme cases, though.

On the positive side my whole life has changed in less than one summer and I can thank my excellent dr. and Prozac- Five months ago I would barely want to leave the house. It helps for major depression. You need a good therapist too, though, who can work closely with you. Sometimes it takes a few years to find the correct medication, its complicated, and don't listen to what the media reports, or your co-workers say...listen to your OWN feelings.

Check out this website: Depression Is a Choice: Winning the Battle Without Drugs. On this site you can read some of the latest writings about depression from many important thinkers who look beyond prescription drugs for their answer to depression. I read her book a few years ago and found it very helpful at the time.

I imagine that the AMA wants all of us to believe that MDs have a monopoly on health care information & protocols. But in fact, MDs are the least likely group of people to have an awareness, let alone an understanding of Alternative Health Care. They have too much invested in their medical educations subsidized by big pharma to venture outside the box.

If you feel inclined to do so, visit the website I posted above, and if you're really open minded or just plain desparate read the book too. Get as much information as you can and do whatever makes sense to you. Having been in a similar situation, I thought long and hard before I was willing to become a drug addict, albiet an addict to a prescribed drug...but an addict nonetheless. I was so happy to discover this website before taking such a drastic step. It could be a fabulous blessing for you too.

Many BLessings....Franco

Thank you guys. I'll read the blog plus I'll try to find the book that Sunny told me. I did hear about Prozac nation. I was batteling the Obssesive Compulsive Disorder...I swear that at one point I thought I was going crazy. I was not an extreme like some other people, but I was pretty bad. So, after I stoped taking it ( recently ) I had some health problems...But now everything is fine when it comes to health. I still have some OCD symptoms, but much less. Thank you guys for your reccomendations!!!As soon as I can rep again, I'll leave you guys a rep. Thank you.
