I agree that it looks funny, but I completely understand why some people do it! Personally if my chest is warm, then all of me is warm. I don't need to have my legs covered, or to wear closed shoes - a skirt and sandals is fine, almost year round - as long as my chest is warm enough, I'm good!

My mother though is the exact opposite! She needs her feet warm, above all else. I can run around in sandals, but she needs socks and shoes. I can have bare legs, but she needs to be completely covered up.

Everybody is different!

That's simply amazing! I am like your mom. My feet must be warm. But then again, my whole self must be warm when it's cold out.
Thanks for pointing out the obvious.

What a sensible and logical post. We humans differ from each other in countless ways, so why not also on the question of tolerance of heat and cold?

Whatever the demerits of the OP's attitude, I do agree with one point: It seems very wasteful of money and natural resources to keep the thermostat at 75 degrees in cold weather, although I guess if you're rich you don't worry about such things. Those who are cold sensitive can wear a little more clothing around the house.

I wonder what the "norm" is for thermostat settings in cool/cold weather?

I'm sensitive to the cold now that I am hypothyroid but I am ALSO light sensitive. Always have been, have tinted glasses as well. One has nothing to do with the other. Get your thyroid checked, Jo.

I usually keep the temp during the day at around 67 when it is arctic outside and turn it off at night. We also keep our bedroom windows open at night as we tend to get quite warm for some reason. Heat is something I can't take and have never lived without ac so during the summer I will keep it at 72 and have fans on in our bedrooms upstairs.

67 is too hot for me....60-62 during the day is fine, turned off or at least WAY down at night (when it's super cold, don't want pipes to freeze or my indoor plants).

we keep our heat on 70 in the winter and the AC on at 68 in the summer. I have Window AC's but if I had CAC I would keep it on 70. I like it ice cold in the summer and warm and toasty in the winter. It's 68 in the house now and I feel cold and DH feels fine.

Read up on Summer SAD. They really don't know what it is; whether it is heat or sensivity to light. I have BOTH. As I said, no thyroid pill will solve my problem to the light. Personally, I think it is both.
