My husband has had panic attacks that sound like what you're describing and definitely lasted longer than 20 minutes.

I've had chains of panic attacks that would each last about 20 minutes or less, but there'd be time off in between, at least a few minutes.

There's a difference between a panic attack and general anxiety.

Anxiety can last for hours, weeks, or months on end. It is a generalized feeling of fear, tension, and sleeplessness without any particular cause for it.

A panic attack is much more severe: you get a massive surge of adrenaline, heavy sweating, severe shaking, and believe you are dying RIGHT THEN or that you have gone insane.

Hypochondria is a belief that you are ill when in fact you are healthy - it may come with specific symptoms but doctors can't find any cause for those symptoms, and all the tests indicate good general health.

A phobia is a chronic fear of something specific, such as being in a closed space like an elevator, that only hits when you encounter the thing you are afraid of.

At any rate, even if the chest pain turns out to be from a panic attack, at least you would know it's not anything dangerous to life (panic attacks are a VERY serious and disabling condition, but don't often kill). Any good physician would want to do a complete health screen, because several very deadly disorders including heart disease could cause those symptoms.

It might not be heart pain, which is usually steady whether you turn or not. It could be a stomach spasm or rib pain. However women often don't have quite the typical symptoms of heart disease, so give your doctor a call or go to a walk-in clinic.
