a single dose of ibuprofen, taken according to the label, can cause GI bleeding. in fact, the risk of GI bleeding increases in a dose-related fashion...so your post is factually incorrect on just about every level.
I missed your authoritative cite for that statement.
Start here and see if you can sort this confusion you have out:
for the record, acetaminophen has one of the safest profiles of any drug when taken according to the label. ibuprofen tends to be a better analgesic, but as with all NSAIDs (aspirin included), it can cause problems such as GI bleeds, even when taken at labeled dosages.
Acetaminopen is one of the leading causes of acute liver failure.
The problem with aspirin is it is getting harder and harder to find the EXTRA STRENGTH dosage.
I think that people try asprin for headaches and do not take enough. I can knock out a migraine with 2 extra-strength asprin.....maybe dosing twice. Aspirin is very safe...can be hard on the stomach though. Max dosage for an adult if 4 grams in a 24 hour period.
I mean, I can find it on the internet, but not in the stores. I can find the fru-fru type extra strength, the ones with caffeine that are supposedly quick acting.....and costs an arm and a leg(Bufferin???) at Walmart. But just plain, cheapo, 500mg aspirin is hard to find.
So people are being pushed to Ibuprofen and Acetominophen, which is not as safe for the liver and kidneys(Ibuprofen).

Yea, its a ripoff to have to pay but they have some deals. I think you can go up and get a one day guest pass, at least at our local store you can. There are some things that Costco and Walmart just can't beat. I'd suggest the ibuprophen as a pain killer. Generic at Sams is two 500 count bottles for maybe $15.

Thanks for the information, will check into the daypass at Sam's
I have very good results with aspirin. And like the OP, I get a weird reaction, tightness in my liver areas, when I take either Acet or Ibup. I rarely take pain killers.....fell a lot better sticking with Aspirin.....read too many bad stories about Ibup and Acet.

Excuse me if this is a dumb question, but why not just take 3 regular ones instead of 2?
