Mucinex D contains pseudoephedrine. I would ask your doctor before taking that one.
If the problem is allergies, a prescription product might help. These can contain antihistamines or steroids.
Besides the neti pot, you can just use a saline nasal spray, which you can use several times a day while you are on the go.
Yeah my mom is not taking the one with the D in it either, she takes the regular. Any cold or allergy pill with "D" in it is a no no for people with HBP
NETI POT POSSIBLE CAUSE OF TWO DEATHS: HOW TO USE ONE SAFELY
Flushing your nasal passages with warm salt water can do wonders for congestion and sinus pain caused by colds and allergies, but use a neti pot improperly, and it could result in death. Louisiana's state health department has issued a warning for neti pots in response to two deaths thought to be linked to improper neti pot use. Both victims filled their neti pots with regular tap water instead of the manufacturer-recommended distilled or sterilized water.

Interesting, because I always use tap water when I use my neti-pot. I use my neti-pot only when I have a severe cold or sinus infection.Hmm maybe I shouldn't now.
I make my own saline solution at home and use it warm. Very soothing when it's warm. You can look for a recipe online but I would not use tap water without boiling it first.
OP I would suggest first you get with an allergist doctor and find out the cause of your sinus problem. Secondly I use a Netti Rinse Bottle instead of the Netti Pot as it is more effective and less messy. My allergist suggested the Netti Rinse Bottle using warm water with 6 drops of Johnsons Baby Shampoo mixed in it. 3 times a day I use it and it works fantastically, no more sinus infections for me anymore. It's a quick, e-z and inexpensive solution to the problem.
