anyone else feel like they have a really bad cold after a cold front goes through. Today we are in the low 40's and had some light snow/iceballs and today I feel as if I have a bad chest cold and lots of sinus drainage. am i sick or allergies I is also very windy and grey thanks
I used to have that happen to me, but (knock on wood) for the last few years I have taken flu shots, and I haven't had a cold or the flu no matter what.
This thread could not be more appropriate for how I woke up feeling this morning.
I usually jog every morning but this morning I woke up with a terrible migraine and completely congested.
The temps dropped considerably overnight and tonight it's going down to 37 degrees and tomorrows high will be in the 40's.
Just last week we had 90 degree days. This fluctuation in temps and moist/dry air kills me.
I suffer big time with allergies both in spring and fall. It doesnt matter to me here in VA, I seem to have problems in the heat and especially now that it has gotten cooler. I feel like I've been hit by a semi this morning!
My nose was itching like crazy on Friday and then my eyes started to burn. It's been so cold today at work (indoors) that now my right ear is popping. Usually a sign of some kind of ear infection or some kind of sickness. I think I'll wear a sweater and thick socks tomorrow instead of a short sleeved shirt and sandals. I'll close my windows tonight when I get home from work. It's too chilly at night to leave them open.
I found something that has really helped me with the change in temps etc.
It's called Ayr. I totally forgot about it as I discovered it around this time last year. And today I was cleaning out my linen closet and there it was!
It's a saline nasal gel. It's non-medicated, non-greasy, and doctor recommended. It moisturizes & soothes dry, stuffy & sore noses.
I like it much better than some of the other OTC mists that are on the market.

One thing I do when I even think a cold is coming on, like when I feel under the weather, is that I began taking Vitamin C, 2,000 units the first time and then 2 every hour, and the next day I am fine.

You take 2,000 units every hour for a day? Or is it just 2,000 for the first dose? If so, what dose do you take every hour thereafter?
My allergies are so bad right now. Every single year, I become miserable the second week of September. I remember this because I always end up sick by October with a sinus infection or bronchitis. As a result, I can never get the flu shot in October. This year I was trying very hard to keep my allergies under control so I didn't end up with an infection. Unfortunately, it's catching up on me. I'm afraid that I'm not going to be able to get the flu shot again this year if I don't turn things around quickly.
