I feel awful today, but it is my stomach now, but I don't have a temp like I did the other day. I do feel like I have no energy but not to the point of weak and loosing my balance like I did the other day.

When my thyrois level was so low as to be almost non-existant, I had to use cruise control to drive anywhere as I could not hold my foot on the pedal. I had to put the car in Park at red lights. I was so limp I could hardly move, felt like my legs might collapse any minute. A few days of levothyroxine cured me.

SouthernBelle, how long did it take before you felt inprovements on the levothyroxine? I felt better on the first day, after that I seem to be going downhill. Don't see that doctor again until the end of the month.. All I want to do is sleep all the time.

I never felt like I went backwards. I was so weak and so apathetic, it took a few days - 2 or 3 - to feel normal. Been fine since, about 2 yrs 9 mo.

I was told once you start taking Synthroid, you'll be on it for life? I've had blood work and they keep me on .150 Mg once a day. I forget it more than I take it.

Put the pill bottle by your alarm clock or coffee maker. That way you'll sure remember.

Since my thyroid was nuked, I better be on levothyroxine for life! There is no cure for a non-functioning thyroid.

Sgt. Buzzcut- I had always heard once on those meds you would always be on them, but my doctor told me he was just going to try me on it for "several months" to see if it would boost my thyroid into working right on it's on, then take me off of it and wait and see... I have never heard of that.

I only have 3 1/2 week of those 2 months left and I am not feeling any better. I think I need a higher dose but I am not the doctor..LOL!

I'm now at 175 but the doc said I could probably stand to go up to 200 very soon. Anyway, it took a very, very long time to get to the 175. When I first started out I would feel good when taking the levo and then it just wouldn't feel like it was working. I was back to freezing to death and not wanting to get out of bed. KEEP TAKING THE MEDS! Don't stop, thinking they don't work. I pulled that and had to start over again. They should be testing you every 2 to 3 months. If you level off, which brings back the old symptoms, your blood tests will indicated an increase in dosage.

Hope this helps!
