Interesting article on who picks assisted suicide and why. It's legal in Oregon and Washington and will be up for a vote in November in Massachusetts.

How do you feel about it?

In Ill Doctor, a Surprise Reflection of Who Picks Assisted Suicide

SEATTLE — Dr. Richard Wesley has amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, the incurable disease that lays waste to muscles while leaving the mind intact. He lives with the knowledge that an untimely death is chasing him down, but takes solace in knowing that he can decide exactly when, where and how he will die.

I am not surprised either at the demographics of those who have availed themselves of this, nor of their reasons.

I have known several terminally people - none living in Washington or Oregon - who carefully made provisions to be able to die when they wished. I am in favor of this option being available through their physicians if terminally ill people want it. I certainly would.

I bought the book from the Hemlock Society years ago. It gives specific advice on assisting your own death. I have every intention of doing so if needed.
