A few months ago I started not being able to see fine print close up or read my cell phone text. Seemed sudden to me, but I went to the eye doc and he said I needed bifocals.

I went to another eye doctor because I still couldn't see well, I ended up with some progressive glasses and multifocal contact lenses. Things seemed better for a few weeks, but not perfect. I was told I would be sacrificing far and close vision with the multifocal. But the problem is I am having problem with my glasses now, that makes me nervous!!!!

I am finding myself pushed up next to the computer screen to read now. The other day I was driving and I noticed I was unable to read the street signs. What could be going on? They claim my prescription has not changed except for reading close. I keep getting headaches again, and I just feel like I have someone else s prescription. what would make it change so rapidly? Even reading this text on the screen is a little blurry.

You are getting old.

One person I'd heard of said it came on so suddenly that he thought he'd had a stroke.

Go see an ophthalmologist (an M.D.), not an optometrist (O.D.). You need someone to dilate your pupils and look at your optic nerve, and someone who can prescribe medications and suggest surgery or an MRI scan if needed. If you have headaches and the blurriness is near and far and constantly changing, it could be something neurological. It could be as simple as migraines but still good to rule out anything more serious.

I had an MRI a month ago, I do have some apparently some serious neurological disease but not sure if it affects my vision. I left a message with my neuro and he is going to call me tomorrow.

I could see better after the new multifocal contacts and glasses but not great but no hedaches and I could go from close to far with no problems. But now my close vision is blurry again and even far is not great either, I been getting headaches as well. Today I was wearing glasses and my text was blurry on my phone so I took off my glasses and it was clearer but I had to put it close to my eyes and then it started to go back and forth from blurry to clear. I am getting worse just after 2 months.

OMG I swear I am freaking out and I have to wait until tommorow to hear from my neuro.

Blurry unfocused vision is one of the first signs of diabetes, it was the symptom that got me to the doctor where in conjunction with frequent urination, thirst and a general feeling of tiredness all the time it was off for blood tests which confirmed his suspicions...Jim ya got type 2 diabetes.

I had a full panel done not long ago, my blood glucose only slightly elevated, always has been. Never was a sign of concern to any of my doctors.

My Ac1 was 5.2 last year and my fasting glucose was only over a little.

Thats good news, you may want to consult your eye doctor. the progressive lenses i have now took 5 trips back to the lab before they finally got it right.

do you wear the multifocal contacts as well? Just seems odd both stopped helping me at the same time, I could see pretty good the first moth or so with them.

I just wear progressives that gradually magnify the more you look down the trick for the optician is lining up the level at which the magnification starts happening, when looking straight ahead vision should appear natural and not blurry due to the magnification point being too high..

well something seems seriously wrong. I don't have a brain tumor, just had a MRI of the brain so that makes me feel a little better,.
