I thought I was just getting old. I have a crushed ankle injury which has ruled my life since 2001. Last November, by some miracle, suddenly I could walk barefoot in my home so this new "back ache" is happening like I read in commercials. Commercials really do help me out. Just now the Strutz commercial description of what I "feel" sort of calmed me. It's not being old. It's happening to lots of people.

Back around 1995 I simply, out of curiosity, went to a chiropractor to have a spinal x-ray. Glad I did because that information has helped me in the long run with my crushed ankle. Problem is I didn't get a copy of the x-ray. Now I can't get an x-ray simply by going to a chiropractor like I did back then. The x-ray showed a split-tail-bone and now I can't prove it.

However, I do know that foot support of the type that the Strutz commercial shows is very educational because it describes my complaint. So I'll use what I have already around the house. AND best of all, it's not "growing old". It's being human.

Since 4/7/2001, I've asked my ankle "How do we feel today". Poor ankle and foot have to help us defy gravity.

I was told by my podiatrist that New balance sneakers are great for ankle and foot support. I have heel spurs and they do help.

To help prevent me from having back aches, I have to wear thick sole shoes, rather than wear flat footed sole shoes. I may have worn new balance sneakers, but for me any thick sole shoes works. I wear sports shoes that has thick soles. Quite a miracle difference over flat soles.

I broke my leg a few years ago, a pretty bad break and I have lots of metal in there now. I know how it feels to divide your life into before the injury and after, and to feel like you're never going to be the same again.

What helps me the most is exercise. I ride a bike for exercise...there are different styles of bikes so just about anyone can find one that's comfortable. I have to have a bike where I can put my foot flat on the ground while I'm still sitting on the saddle, because I can't point my toes anymore and I don't like having to tip sideways to stop, or find a curb to lean my foot on. When I'm riding regularly, my entire body feels better and I can walk further without pain (as long as it's not about to rain ). Some days I don't even feel that wrong feeling in my ankle for the entire day, which means it's a really good day for me. I'm not suggesting bicycling is the perfect exercise for everyone...but if you can find an exercise that you can do, it could make you more comfortable in the long run.
