This is true, but usually not as much of an issue for an acute visit (which really would be the main reason for seeing a doctor that is not yours). I think it's more of a management issue--some people have certain ways they like to practice and that will not be the same for all doctors in the same group. For example, some people will be more aggressive in treating specific problems rather than giving you time to make lifestyle changes. Another doctor may prefer to use generics rather than brands. Often there's a concern about changing your management without really knowing you (your own doctor may remember there's a visit note in your chart from 5 years ago when you had problems due to a dosage change).
