It really varies from person to person. Years ago, a doctor prescribed an anti-inflammatory called Vioxx for my husband. It didn't help him any better than an OTC, but I used up the rest of the bottle and it worked better for me than anything I've ever used. (It has since gone off the market.) I used to think about asking my doctor for Celebrex, which is similar, but I do worry about side effects.
Aleve at 440 mg/2 pills is close to Naproxen at 500 mg. It is the same ingredients. I liked Aleve better than any other NSAID and I didn't like anything much stronger.
Yeah, after reading about many of them they don't sound so hot and can have even more side effects than OTC.
