Has anyone here ever been to a naturopath? What was your experience like and do you think they are worth the money.
My insurance does not cover this type of doctor so it would be completely out of pocket but I've been to many doctors and am thinking of trying something new since nothing has helped with the fatigue and pain I'm experiencing on a constant basis. My primary doctor pretty much dismissed it when I asked him about seeing one.
I work next door to one and she seems quite reputable. She certainly has a lots of patients. I don't use her (yet) but a couple of friends of mine absolutely swear by acupuncture. I think it depends on your attitude and their methods. Could you make an appointment that's just a consultation rather than treatment - might be cheaper?
My wife has been having a wide assortment of issues. On top of which the doctors began to ignore her complaints when she asked for a referral. Then her doctor left, the next time she went in she was seen by a PA. The PA spent more time and listened. Then she got the PA designated as her PCP. At the next visit she asked the PA to do a referral to a naturopath, and the PA did. In the mean time I had asked my doctor to refer me to a naturopath, he made a note in the computer, but would not respond to me. We both went and we paid out of pocket, then 3 months later the insurance agreed to pay 100% for visits for both of us, and we were reimbursed.
Naturopaths look at you in an entirely different way. I learned that I had extremely high levels of lead and antimony in my system, which I then began to get rid of. Which allowed my cholesterol to come back down. My wife learned about about how her body works, and she was then able to begin addressing some of her issues [which the regular doctors had no way to deal with].
I think that naturopaths are well worth the effort.
Because they charge even for a consultation. The doctor I'm interested in seeing charges $300 so I'm trying to decide if it's worth the money. My insurance said they absolutely will not reimburse for this, which I think its stupid, but I may just have to take a chance.
A pill-pusher is going to sell you a pill. In my experience it is often done as a 'lets try this and see if it helps'. They honestly do not 'know' the effect of any of the drugs they prescribe. And over the years, the pill addictions accumulate. How many 50 year old's are on 4 pills? 60yo's on 6 pills? 70yo's on 8 pills? See a trend? Every pill costs you money.
Is there a lifestyle change you could make? Or a dietary change? Or a herb? Naturopathic protocols may be less expensive. Treatments are usually focused on lets fix this so you no longer 'need' to take something.
