I don't want to go to class unprepared. Also, how long is the class? I know every class is probably different but I'm just looking for an estimate.

Is it part of a general first aid class or EMT? If you want to read the materials have at it. Generally in the class they go over everything you need to know. They have to practice on a dummy and usually the test is 25 questions. I've never had problem passing the test. It is something I have to recert on every 2 years anyway.

They cover the needs to know stuff in the class. It is good to review the materials before, but not manditory IMO.

Do you have to read out loud at a cpr class? I get panic attacks reading in public.

I too have to be BLS certified every two years...renewals usually take 2 hrs, first timers 3 hrs.

We do all of our BLS training at the local college and they are very strict...you have to arrive 15 early or they make you leave. You have to have the book (which we never open) or you will be asked to leave. You have to have your work ID or you will be asked to leave. You have to be appropriately dressed or they will ask you to leave.

We don't pay for our classes, but if we miss our class for whatever reason, we are charged $100 and run a risk of being suspended for non compliance.

I suggest you read all the paperwork/emails you received in regards to your class.

this is NOT a first aid class...it's Basic Life Support...good ole CPR if you will.

I didn't at mine.

OP, I'm going to echo in saying that you don't NEED to really read anything. They go over what you need to know.

Now, if you WANT to read it because it is closely related to your career, it might not be a bad idea. With that being said, you will have no issues passing the "exam" not having read anything.

I think mine was about 4 hours?
