Tonight's news from Brian Williams: Women who have not had any children have a death rate that is 4x higher than those that have had children.

I am paraphrasing, but the content, or lack thereof, remains unchanged. No, they didn't say anything about longevity or what might likely befall a woman that does not have children. They just reported what I said above.

I guess women that have children can look forward to living forever.

That is just weird. Would love to see the data on this.

I bet woman with children as less likely to engage in risky behavior because they want to be around for their children.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say no nuns were in the study, but I haven't read it.

Women, including nuns, who have never been pregnant are at increased risk for breast, uterine, and ovarian cancers.

The study:

Parents live longer than couples without children, study finds - latimes.com

The participants all were being treated for infertility, so it would be hard to say whether the results can be generalized to everyone.

It would be helpful to know the causes of the premature deaths.

I figured there had to be a real story behind NBC's messed up reporting. I had finally found one source of the story, but someone beat me to it. I guess I need to get my wife her own computer so I can waste even more time browsing the web.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. Because all of us women without children go bungee jumping 10 times a day, and then sleep around with the first thing we see, allowing them to infect us with heaven knows what, and then we don't see doctors because what the hell, why do we need to live long lives? We don't have kids; what else is there to live for?

It might help if you actually read the link before spouting your expert opinions.

I have never heard it quite that high, but I have heard this before. Of course, there is my step mom: she never had kids, she survived uteran cancer, triple by-pass, 2 strokes and died a few months ago, at just short of her 95th birthday, she simply died of old age!!!!

I normally take these reports with a grain of salt...There are so many pieces of data not including...studies are like the weather, they change daily..Nita
