I have been finding latley if I have any dairy such as ice cream or cereal with milk about 2 hours before I go to bed I end up having weird dreams that make no sense at all. My cousin has the same problem, she drinks a glass of skim milk every night and ends up having weird dreams. I wonder if their is a correlation between the two?

Eating before going to sleep, which triggers an increase in the body's metabolism and brain activity, is a potential stimulus for nightmares.
I have them all the time as I usually eat/drink someting before going to bed.

Google "eating before going to bed can cause nightmares" and you'll get a lot of information about the subject.

Dairy products contain tryptophan which is precursor to the body's creation of serotonin. (Hence the age-old belief that drinking hot milk will help you sleep). Serotonin has been shown to induce vivid dreams in people who are sensitive to serotonin.

It's not your imagination!

Could be. It happens to me if I eat chicken too close to bedtime. Seriously. No other food does it to me.

My night cap is aloe juice, calcium, and digestive enzyme crystals. Sometime I wake up at the kitchen table because it kicks in before I can make it up the stairs.

Cheese is well-known for causing vivid dreams.

The theory is that you should leave at least a couple of hours after eating before going to bed because your digestion slows down when you sleep.

I know that a milky drink is often suggested for kids before bed, but not sure whether that is good advice or not.
