I recently went to a local neurologist and he told me I may be a good candidate for migraine surgery, since medication and Botox are just not cutting it for me. I am trying to get as much information as I can about the procedure and wanted to see if anyone on the forum has experience with this or at least experience with severe headaches/migraines. I never had a doctor mention this type of surgery to me before, so I'm a little hesitant about the whole thing.

My sister looked into this and she was told that if Botox didn't relieve the migraine that meant she wasn't a good candidate for the actual surgery. Because the Botox doesn't help they feel that the migraines are unrelated to nerve pressure, so the surgery won't help her.
I get migraines, but not severe enough to consider these treatments. Until my sister mentioned it I never knew Botox was used as treatment. That's probably the most radical treatment I would try, but I only have a few migraines a year.
Do you get relief from Botox treatments?

As I'm lying here right now with a migraine...I'll try anything! Hmm, haven't heard of any surgery!

I got relief from Botox the first couple treatments but now it's not working as well. But that makes sense. I really think I have rebound headaches (I have gotten to the point of taking so many medications to ease the pain that in turn, I just keep getting headaches because my body is used to the medication). So I was HOPING that if I got the surgery, maybe my rebound headaches would subside and I could knock off all these medications?

Ahhhh I'm so desperate to get rid of these things! I have them EVERY FREAKIN DAY.

I had migraines for a period of time. I wish you the best, they're inexplicable to anyone who hasn't had them.

I had rebound migraines on Immetrex until I started taking Feverfew liquid daily. Migraines went away after a year, never to return. Sometimes I had to take 2 doses to get it to stop. Most stopped within 5 min of taking it. Four peer-reviewed, placebo controlled studies published in the Lancet in the early 1990s showed both reduction in severity and in frequency.

IO like the HerbPharm brand, available at most groceries in their "natural" section. A dropperful was what I used. Fould taste, put it in a little water, juice, soda - NOT milk.

The imitrex injections gave me relief completely. So did going thru menopause and getting my hormones under control.
