I had never heard of this, short of Lazik. Most of the people I have met that got Lazik still needed to wear their glasses and not everyone is a candidate either. I have often thought of getting contact lenses myself but poking my eyes every day wasn't on my top ten list. Neither is permanent eyeliner put on like a tattoo would be unless I could be knocked out. Not just local anesthetic altho heard some places don't even do that. So, you've got me wondering about this implantable contact lenses procedure myself. I've heard too many bad things with the Lazik so I might be more inclined to not quite be one of the first 10 or so people that get this procedure done either. However, I would like to know a little bit about this too.

Intraocular lens implants (IOL's) have been done for many decades, usually after cataract removal. They are very successful and well tolerated generally. You may be talking about phakic IOL's to correct nearsightedness (they are still working on them for farsightedness) and for correction for people who are not candidates for Lasik.

This is written by a doc I consulted with (I'm waiting for the farsighted lenses to be approved)

I had my lenses replaced during cataract surgery and have the relatively new bi-focal lense implants. I can see far and very close up for the first time in my life! My night vision is back also. The only problem with these is circles of light around car head lights, etc. But over time, I've learned to deal with it. Seriously, I would not mess with my eyes until I needed to. But when the time comes for cataract surgery explore options regarding the bi-focal lenses. I love them.

I had a friend that had implantable contacts and when I saw him the last time years ago he was wearing thick glasses with the glass clouded over. I didn't ask him about it but it didn't look good. But he had eye problems since his youth so I don't know what to think. I would definitely suggest going to a forum.
