Hey old people: Have you noticed your nose or ears growing? What do you think about this, if so?

Yep. I don't think old men actually lose hair. I think the roots just turn upside down and grows down through the head and comes out the ears and nose.

I'm 50 now and I have not yet noticed an increase in my nose or ears. When does this phenomenon begin?

After I retired the more I lied about my age the longer my nose grew.

Yes, I hope it means that my head is shrinking, and, therefore, will lead to an increase in humility.

More seriously, I have to have a passport type photo taken every year for an ID, and lining these up side by side confirms that my nose especially has changed shape quite a bit over the last ten years. It looks odd to me as I always had a thin, straight nose and now the end of the nose has become much broader and make my nose look shorter.

What happens is that as we age, we lose that youthful collagen under the skin and our skin "deflates" a bit. It makes the nose seem bigger but it isn't. It's our cheeks that are flatter.

I saw this one old guy, looked like he had two slabs of liver on each side of his face. Giant, droopy ears. It was as grotesque as it was sort of fascinating, how can anyone have ears that big? Wow. I wonder if cosmetic surgery is possible, maybe some people don't mind.

Must affect hearing and fit of hearing aids....I don't know.

No to the nose and ears, but my already thin face is sinking in some more giving me a "gaunt" look, even though I am not that thin.

I used to have a very cute perky little nose and now it is about twice as big as it used to be! I hope it doesn't keep doubling in size! I guess I could join a circus . . .

It is an unfortunate side effect of aging - who knew?
