I am a male with what I call "reverse vitiligo"- basically dark splotches that are taking over my cheeks. I didn't have this when I was younger. All of the commercials picture women using this product and similar products. Anybody out there had any success with Pro-Activ?

I used it in college for acne with great success. However, I did not have severe acne. I just had the occasional breakout around my menstrual cycle. I used it for those under the skin acne type cysts that were large, swollen, and extremely painful. I would often have to put an ice pack on them. I know this is quite different for what you would be using it for, but again I had great results.

Pro-Activ is for treating acne. It isn't for treating skin pigmentation disorders.

OP, I agree with the above posts. I do think you should see a Dermatologist. You asked if anyone had success with Proactiv. I did, but certainly not for anything besides acne. I was not trying to mislead you that I thought that it would work for your condition. Good luck!

Nope, it didn't work for me, but the dermatologist did. I agree with everyone else go to a dermatologist. The dermatologist can prescribe a skin bleach to take care of your issue. Pro-Active will not help with what you describe.

If any of you have seen the commercial, you would see that they also supply a dark spot corrector as part of the deal. I did see a dermatologist last fall who prescribed me a regimen of lustra (not avbl at pharmacies) and another solution that's supposed to defoliate and sun block. It's a difficult regimen. This dermatologist also helped me when I had acne as a teen, but I felt like she was much more focused on older ladies that need Botox and less on medical issues.

If you don't want to go to the dermatologist I would recommend something with retinol (sp). It is in most dark spot corrections that you get at the pharmacy. Just be careful in the sun.

That is what the good doc gave samples for. It's called retin-X, but I don't like the regimen. You have to put it on, then let is set for 20 minutes, then apply the lustra. The cocktail gives me a headache. I may just wear make-up.

I tried proactiv for my acne and it was totally uneffective. Do not waste your time. It is really time consuming too so after a little I only had the time to do it once again. Don't waste your time with this product.
