For the past two weeks I've been very sick and it's freaking me out.
First it started when I woke up one day my right arm was swollen. I was sent for a venous doppler because my arm stayed swollen and in pain for days which was negative. I was also having shooting pains up my arm and chest pain. My D Dimer was negative and my doctor gave me prednisone for inflammation. I also had one day where my lymph nodes on both side of my neck swole so badly I could barely turn my neck, but this went away.
During that time I started experiencing this weird sensation like I was going to pass out, fatigue, and couldn't breathe. It's happened multiple times, and I also get extreme nausea, random feelings of heat and cold. When I try to work out it's worse, I have to stop within five minutes due to shortness of breath. I got a chest x-ray and several blood test. My ANA and RNP came back positive so my doctor wants me to go a rheumatologist which I have scheduled. The chest x-ray was normal.
I also went to a cardio who had me do a stress test which came out normal as well as an echocardiogram which I haven't gotten the results for.
Now today I started experiencing a tingling feeling on the right side of my head/scalp plus a warm sensation across the back of my head along with feeling very sleepy suddenly.
I plan to go to urgent care tonight but in the meanwhile does anyone know what this could be? I feel crazy, frustrated, and scared running around to multiple doctors and still no answer.
All I can tell you is that once or twice I have had tingly feelings only on one side of my body, like arm and hip or back but without the rest of it. My internist said it was an aftereffect of the flu, that the nerves on that side of the body got inflamed.
Sure hope you get an answer. Come back and tell us!
Tearycloud: I doubt that Urgent Care will be able to help you since they don't know your history, your symptoms, etc and they usually only treat simple cases like finger cuts, broken limbs, etc. A neurologist is probably the doc you need to see and until you do, you need to stop worrying and relax. Easy to say I know. The swelling could be an infection and the tingling feeling is definitely a nerve, maybe being compressed by the fluid. Have you had any unusual stress lately in your life? Try to keep a journal of when and what so you can tell the neuro. Good luck and hope this helps. Barb
Did you have a fever (actual raised body temperature) when your arm was swollen and painful? Was your arm red or pale or blue? Did it feel warmer or cooler than the rest of your body?
It sounds like (if it wasn't a venous clot) it may have been an infection and or reaction to an insect bite or a cut. Were you aware of any breaks in the skin anywhere?
Auto-immune problems are very difficult to diagnose early... at least, some are. When reading the post you wrote yesterday, I was reminded of myself years ago when I would be reclining on the sofa and my husband would ask what was wrong. He learned not be be disturbed by my response, "I'm all right. It's just that feeling I'm going to die. I'll be all right in the morning." So, I hope you, OP, are better today.
Just wanted to follow up I found out I have lyme disease
But at least I know and now I can get back on the road to feeling better.
So sorry about your diagnosis. At this point I recommend you read everything you can get your hands on regarding Lyme disease. Find a doctor that is familiar with it. It is an extremely tricky disease and I hate to be the bearer of bad news, there is no cure. You can go through many years if not your whole life symptom free, or it can come back in a gazillion different ways. Read up and good luck!

so sorry to hear this. Seems like you got a diagnosis pretty quickly though--so that's great. I've known people who had it and didn't know for a couple of years!!
Please update us as time goes by to let us know how you are.
Just now learned of your diagnosis and am so sorry, but, your initial post seems so similiar to something I would post, I was sure it was some sort of auto-immune illness. I think there is a good chance I even had some form of Lyme. My diagnosis has changed, I think 3 times, but, maybe 4, because auto-immune can be so good at deceitful symptoms. I go off on a tangent of reading everything I can find on a subject. I think it makes me worse. I think I would be better off if I could just accept whatever the dr says and not think about it between visits.

I'm not sure that the fact that there is no cure is strictly true. I think it depends on how soon treatment begins and on the presenting symptoms. There is some good information here and I agree re finding an experienced infectious diseases healthcare provider.
