I have sinus issues. One year it got so bad I could barely walk and was taken to the ER. Steroid shot worked great, but now I just take a small sip of baby formula Benadryl at night when I feel something coming on. I'm on it right now because we had some very high pollen counts around here. The wind picks up and I know I'm going to have problems.

Also drink lots of hot tea with lemon and honey to keep things loose in there.

When are you going to an ENT? Didn't you already cancel an appointment because you felt better and now here you are presenting with repeat symptoms again? When you sleep your sinus doesn't drain and since you sleep everyday if you don't get it moving when you wake up, it gets clogged up and the repeat button gets stuck. If that repeat button is pressed for days on end, you will feel worse. Many of us have offered suggestions, some you follow, others you discount because you think it's not the problem.

It seems to me that you take too much antibiotics when you don't need it and when you have a serious maybe even life threatening infection, nothing they give you is going to work. If you're still taking antibiotics that are prescribed by a physician who has treated you, you are going to the WRONG kind of doctor. Please see an ENT and follow his/her instructions. If you won't do that, you need to sleep in an upright position.

I'm sorry if that sounds harsh. I forgot to take my Mucinex-D this afternoon and wasn't home so I couldn't take it till just a few hours ago and the pressure was getting unbearable; thus I remembered to take a pill. Relief has finally kicked in now and soon I can go to bed.

I wonder if dairy, gluten and wheat contribute to chronic sinusitis?

Anyone eliminated those items from their diet and still have chronic sinus infections?

Dairy is supposed to be a contributing factor. I'm not willing to give it up so I quit smoking and pop pills to alleviate the symptoms. You could try non-dairy milk products but I haven't looked into that. My daughter likes Almond milk but I'm not sure if that is non-dairy or not. I figure as long as the pills help, I'm not making any additional changes.
