I just don't go because they give you the "deer in the headlight look" when you tell them don't give me meds, what nutrition should I do?
The docs get only about 6 hrs worth of nutrition class in all those years in school. You can heal almost anything. Chemo has a 97% failure rate. There are many holistic doctors who heal cancer. But saying you cured cancer is actually illegal in the US

I don't like to go because I have to wait for 2 hours before I see my doctor everytime, and they don't understand why I can only make appointments on my day off. Gee, I will spend all day in the waiting room. There is absolutely no way I can do that and go to work too.

Only "illegal" to claim what you can't prove and since holistic doctors have a 99.5% failure rate at curing cancer that's the problem...

(see I can make up statistics too)

If so, why would people rather not know than know the "bad news"?
In my case, it's because I've seen so many people in my life over the years spend years and years having "treatment" for a condition, and either end up dead anyway, or the disease still completely ruining and consuming their life.

I'd almost rather NOT know if it's something that is essentially a death sentence, wondering every single day if this is the day I'm going to bite the big one.

Well I am not really scared....more like disappointed and annoyed at the incompetence of the GP's that I have seen.

I will go to a specialist or surgeon if I know that something really needs to be taken care of.......no more General Doltitioners for me.

It does scare me to think of the crummy level of competence I have personally experienced from General Doltitioners.

Oy vey. Get off the quack blogs and maybe talk to some cancer survivors? I know plenty of people who have been cured, and even my oncologist told me that I'd likely be able to say I'm "cured" 5 years after treatment with no relapses. Most people with my cancer do.

And, by the way, I'm pretty "crunchy" myself. My oncologists have some of the best credentials in the country and work at two of the best cancer centers - and they were very willing to discuss supplements, sit with me and the onco-nutritionist about food as medicine, and the cancer centers even offered free reiki and reduced cost yoga and acupuncture. They are complimentary therapies that help assauge side effects from chemo and make your body prepared to be a better partner with the chemotherapy. They do NOT cure the cancer, and far too many people die of curable cancers because they didn't believe in chemo.

But to the OP's point, it's scary to go to the doctor if you have either a family or personal history of serious or chronic illness. I never understood being afraid of the doctor until I was diagnosed with cancer. I'm now 26 and have no idea what the next appointment will bring. Will I relapse? Will a new late term effect pop up? Is the toxicity damage in my lungs causing another issue? All of these are things I can handle - and I even have a good 3 or 4 relapses before there are no more treatment options. But the options for each tend to be expensive even with insurance, require a lot of time off of work, and are distinctly unpleasant.

I get panic attacks going into the doctor's office for regular checkups now and need medications to get me through scan weeks.

On the plus side, I no longer have feeling around my veins so I no longer have a fear of pain at the doctor's office like I did when I was younger!

People go to the doctor far too much and they really can't accept being healthy as an answer. Everyone has to have a problem, take medication, etc. It's a waste of time in most cases, especially before you are 50.

Because usually when I do go I end up sitting in a cramped room for ages and ages with nothing to read (I really should remember my kindle) and then after 3 minutes chat with the doctor results in them giving me a prescription for something I've already told them I can't take and a huge bill.
My last experience consisted of 3 xrays and a doctor who before even talking to me had a prescription for hydrocodone in hand telling me not to sit, or stand because I had a broken coccyx. I pointed out to him that I can't take any opiates and he said "fine take ibrupofen then" as if I was some sort of waste of his time. To be fair, after charging me nearly $700 for the pleasure of a whole half hour in his surgery his nurse did follow up with a call 3 days later informing me that they had looked at my xrays and detected a small scoliosis and did I want to come in and see what they could do for me? That would be a NO.

The only time I see a doctor now is for my womens health appointments, I pay for that in cash seeing as DH and I never use our deductible.
