It is one of the drugs that you cannot take with a blood thinner. Otherwise, it is no more harmful than any other NSAID.
Thanks, that is what I was about to say>According to our granddaughter who is a nurse practitioner and our own doctor, taking it will really not do any harm unless abused, like any med or if you are on certain other meds, like blood thinners. Most of us are taking everything we read to seriously. If there is a doubt ask your doctor and ask for a reason why you should not take whatever.
I can't take ibuprofen. I had blood in my urine at my OB/GYN check-up. My doc sent me to a urologist and urologist sent me to a nephrologist. It was the ibuprofen. The blood disappeared after several months off the ibuprofen. I still have to see my nephrologist annually. I use acetaminophen when needed but it's not as good as the ibuprofen.
Incidentally, i have had rheumatoid arthritis in my hands and ankles for almost 20 years and osteoarthritis in my shoulder and hips for even longer, but once I took up indoor rowing, both have stabilized and I very rarely need to take naproxen sodium for the pain from either/both.

I also have RA, which can affect the joints and organs, and on some days I take none, on other days I may take 800mg two times a day. I also have to take Humira once per week, biologic by injection, and Methotrexate weekly, by pill also.
I have OA as well, and sometimes I think it hurts worse than the RA!
My wife is an avid taker of Ibuprofen when ever there is an injury, back ache, etc. This has been going on for 10 plus years.
More recently she told me that she read too much is bad for you, so refuses to take it 100%.
Last week she slipped up and told me her doctor said not to take it, after an exam.
When I asked her about it, she brushed it off. Sadly for her, I know her obvious tells and I feel like she is hiding something from me. What could it be?
First thought is a kidney issue. Aside that I am lost. She is also the type to ignore health problems and pretend they will go away. Especially if they are big.
Thank you
She may not know. Could be elevated liver enzymes. With such a long hx of taking them my vote is that without knowing anything else. (this is not medical advice)
You can drive yourself crazy trying to wonder what she may be hiding from you (may be something, may be nothing). I would try to sit down with her, and be honest and tell her you are worried about this, and ask her to please tell you what if anything her doctor may have told her. We can guess all day here, but that's the only way you'll know for sure.
