Why do we as human beings prefer warm weather as opposed to cold weather?

Two separate questions. From biology our bodies are more suited to a warmer temp obviously because we don't have fur, thick coats of skin, etc. But "preference" is different and some people enjoy cooler temps.
For me I will sit in the middle, give me a New England Fall day where it is sunny with a slightly cool breeze, just enough that a hoody and jeans keep you perfectly comfortable.
I also prefer the cold. 0 degrees is a little extreme, but I work outside most of the time. Your body does adjust to become more tolerant of the cold. Right now my room is 42 degrees. I don't typically run heat in my house.

Cold weather is painful.
