Your issue is with the HMO which provides your health insurance, the insurance company determines the amount of co pay at each visit and that is not typically negotiable by the physician's office. The amount you would actually be billed by the physician should be minimal for a quick visit but the co pay remains the same...

You're right . Most do not even take the time to listen to what you are saying. They may give you 15-20 min. tops of their time, then out you go and in with the next patient, pay your co-pay and get out with no answers at times.

I was there today, now I have to have another test and I know damn well I don't have what they think, because some young PA must be trying to make a name for herself, called my Dr. and he's agreeing with her because he can't figure it out.

When this test is negative, I will be calling her, yes she may have been concerned about something, she should have voiced it to me, rather than me finding it out from my doctor 2 weeks later.

I think of my Dr. as a Wuss now, now I'll be stuck with paying part of a test I don't need, matter of fact I think I will call my insurance co about this, I have no noticeable symptoms or elevated levels in my blood test, with my luck insurance will approve this test while they kept denying another.

Anymore IMHO search the web, find forums, groups with similar symptoms. I think the name of the game is $ now.

I have never disputed medical charges, but my experience this summer really made me feel ripped off.
Let me get this straight, I owe $35 and waited an hour just for this doctor to come in and tell me to come back for a scan? And another $35 for him to tell me the scan was clear. Oh and another bill to pay the person who actually read the test.

I want to dispute the extra $35 copay. Does anyone think a clinic will work with me on this?
On the first visit you paid for his expertise in determining that you should even have a scan.
Under different circumstances that might have been the first and last visit with no tests ordered.
The 2nd visit was scheduled so that if the test had turned out with different results, he and you would have the opportunity to see what to do from there.
Depending on different results, he may then have had a treatment plan. He didn't know ahead of time how the test would turn out.

@rural lady - just so you know, you don't HAVE to get a test done, just because the doctor (or PA, or whoever) orders it. Obviously, it might not make them happy, but you do have the right to refuse. That being said, unless you have medical training, I would be careful with the line of thinking that you know better than them what's wrong with you because a) there are MANY diseases with non-specific/vague symptoms and b) it implies that you should have already diagnosed yourself (which you obviously haven't, since you're seeking medical advice).
