My husband had a portion of his lung removed a week ago due to mold. Now he has terrible night sweats. I'm assuming its from the anesthesia. Any remedies out there?
interesting. I had them also after bypass surgery. Never had them before. I was at a nursing home for a week before going home. They just kept changing my sheets and gown and eventually it stopped. Must have to get the anesthesia out of your system or something. Glad to read this--thought it was just me.
I had night sweats after leg surgery and it turned out that I had a UTI from the catheter used during the surgery. You can buy a UTI test at the drug store if you want to check it without a trip to the doctor.
Sweating could be sign of a fever, which is something to be concerned about after surgery. Did you call the doc & let him know about the sweating? Has he taken his temperature?
I sleep in a cotton nightie, use cotton sheets, and have a small fan blowing on my face all night. I used to also put a larger fan at the foot of my bed. When the flash would come, I tried to train myself to peel off the covers and roll over and go back to sleep. I was able to do that a lot of the time.
The hot flashes are now getting less and less frequent, but I'm in a phase right now where they are occurring but not nearly as bad, so just one fan is fine.
If you use small fans, it doesn't increase the energy bill by much.

Yes, but the OP is talking about her husband who is sweating a lot after just having a serious operation.
