I broke my pinky toe almost a year ago. Was running after my daughter and it got caught on the side of my bed. It went completely crooked/was sticking out the wrong way. Since there is nothing to do I just popped it back and taped it for a week. Since then it has hurt whenever its cold, rain, etc which I kind of expected. But it's also sore randomly. After wearing sneakers, after playing on the playground, etc.

My question. Is there anything to do..? Or am I stuck and in a kind of "just deal" situation.

Did you ever get an Xray? Some displaced fractures that heal in an unnatural offset may have to be rebroken and reset. All depends on the degree of offset, loss of funcionality, and ongoing pain.

I very badly broke my pinky toe in October 2012. It took almost 12 months for the swelling to fully subside (or close to fully; it is still slightly larger than my other pinky toe) and for the pain to get to a "only hurts every once in a while" state. 12 months. Even now, it hurts in the cold, hurts when I wear shoes for too long, hurts when I wear heels, and hurts at other random times.

I've broken many bones, but this is the only one that has been this resistant to fully healing.

I'm sorry you're experiencing pain.

Thanks. Yeah it sucks for lack of a better term. All I've heard is "nothing to do for broken toes". So I never bothered to get an X-ray or anything else. Just popped it back in place on my own and used tape. But yeah it still hurts. I figure there is probably nothing to do at this point other than take Advil when it bothers me.

I broke my big toe ten years ago but didnt go to the hospital for over a week , but was in so much pain I had to... they said after an x ray that yes it was broken but had started to heal to left it alone... now I can move the toe to either side, its as if its stuck in a position and painful if moved involuntary..

All of my broken bones still hurt after years gone by. Especially, my broken foot.

You really need to immobilize it. Routinely tape it to the next toe for a few months,
