I just read something the other day by Adam Clayton of U2. He quit drinking about 20 years ago after he went into a blackout and missed a show. He said he starting smoking pot instead, and that he didn't want to drink when smoking pot but he didn't want to do much else, either, so eventually he gave that up. That's a property of marijuana. It kills motivation.

First, Marijuana does not kill motivation, certain strains do. However, if you are under the influence, there are things that you may be motivated to do, but shouldn't, like driving.

Second, I'm sure her drinking to excess is killing her motivation, at the same time, it is also killing her.
