bingo, I wish I were doing everything that you are doing. If I were I would lose weight.
Hey Jess, try just doing some of them and you'll loose and then you'll be doing the rest. The best thing is it is NOT a diet, I hate the word, but it is a way of living healty and I am never hungry. My energy is up there. Sugar and processed foods are our worst enemies. Eating food that has not been processed or chemicalized (new word), lol, is the key to feeling your best naturally.
Growing older is indeed part of it! But I also deal with a LOT more stuff now that I did in my innocent 20s. Also...check your iron (or ask the doctor to do it when you get your physical). I was getting anemic and added an iron supplement 3x a week. That helped.

Good for you! I inherited rheumatoid arthritis...if I didn't take 4 arthritis drugs a day, and had not had both knees replaced, I couldn't move and would be in a wheelchair by now. By the time my grandmother was my age now (55), all her fingers and toes were bent sideways. I thank God every day for my drugs and new knees!

My problem is that I get too interested in sweets. And my husband loves baked goods, so I make him cookies, pies, cakes, etc.

I have to agree with this post. I had no medical insurance and no job for a long period of time. So when I did get a job with benefits, I went to a doctor and the first thing he did was order complete lab panels and give me a loooooong lecture on how ill advised it is to not see doctors. Then I went back a week later and he sat there with his mouth open looking at my lab results shaking his head, and said in all his 30+ years of practicing medicine, it was the healthiest set of labs he had EVER SEEN. I had a good laugh over that. His brain just could not comprehend that someone could be very very healthy for years on end without ever seeing a doctor. He was stunned.
I eat healthy most of the time but I also have a problem with sweets. I crave them.
For many years I took chromium picolate 200 mcg daily for cravings, and it really worked. I don't crave them like before but if they are there I will eat them. I used to have to run out of the house to buy sweets, but not now. I can do without them without the strong craving, but my husband loves sweets and so I bake for him.

It's funny because I was reading an article at the health food store yesterday and I picked some of this up, only with 500 mg. I was wondering how long it would take to kick in. I took my first one this morning.
I'm glad to hear it works. My s/o doesn't care for sweets so I don't have to worry about that but especially this time of year has been really hard for me to go without them.
I've eaten half a box of See's chocolates in the last few days and bitten into the other half to see what's inside. (They are my chocolates, so I can do this.)
That is funny Greenie ... growing up I was always discouraged from biting into the chocolate to see what was inside and putting it back in the box ... I looked forward to the day I would have my own box of chocolates I could bite into and not eat if I didn't like it!
You are still young ... climbing the mountain you haven't reached the pinnacle yet and started your descent ... as you go up the mountain you will notice a wrinkle here and a wrinkle there and you will notice a stamina change ... it is a good idea to have your iron checked and perhaps you need a supplement or B12 is a good boost too. You gotta be tough to grow old and your journey has just begun. You are on the right road taking no medication hang in there with that as long as you can!
song, i don't think that it took more than two weeks to kick it. it is good to not crave sweets, and so instead of eating 2 dozen cookies when I bake them I eat 4 to 6. but that many is enough to put on weight. I used to eat 2 dozen a day and half a cake if i baked a cake instead. i had a great metabalism back then and never gained a pound.
I had a great metabolism too until I reached my early 30's and gained tons of weight. I've lost weight but still have some more to go and doing without the sweets should help or I should say, doing without tons of sweets should help me.
You need to start a thread on chromium and tell what it's done for you.
