This is a weird question. A friend of mine who normally eats poultry and fish only, as part of their daily diet claims that after eating beef their body odor is more pungent after a workout. Has anyone heard of this before? Or is my friend's imagination running wild?

I can believe it. People smell different according to what they have eaten. I don't notice it much anymore, but I have in the past.

I normally don't eat beef. Normally spices are what makes me smell different.

Nope, it happens. Meat eaters have a different scent to them.

Stinks more from vegetables, actually.

My dog eats mostly meat and she has no smells.

I am pretty certain this is all myth folks (about 99% certain).

I happen to eat everything but other than my breath after eating my body has no odor when I sweat due to a genetic trait I fortunately inherited from my mother. By the time your food is processed there is nothing which reaches your skin from within that would cause unique odor. Odor on your skin is due to bacteria in combination with your body's oils. I'm relatively certain your body's oils do not change composition depending upon what you eat.

Its not a myth at all...after many years of being vegetarian I notice it a lot. When my husband eats beef at work I can smell it on him really bad, even after his teeth are brushed, even the next day. When I was pregnant I would actually wretch if he sat near me after eating beef. He finally went beef-free for my pregnancy. If you are a veg you can definitely smell it. Strangely pork, chicken, turkey, don't make him smell. I don't know why this seems unbelievable. Ever smelled someone who drank a lot the night before? It seeps through the pores. Also, women have a heightened sense of smell compared to men.

We release a lot of toxins through our pores, thats what makes the smell different.
