The inverse marijuana drug limits hunger, with negative side effects, most notably nausea, vomiting and moodinesshunger. Amazing that weed is illegal if grow for free, but as soon as a drug company, like Merck, bottles the anti-weed chemicals...which anger people instead of mellow them out...then it is OK for the world to use and Merck to make billions in profits.

Only in America could such "logic" exist...read article below:

New Diet Drug in Battle of the Bulge: Scientific American

In summary if you overdose on the Merck "I can't stop eating" drug, you end up angry, vomiting, nausous, and not wanting any food. If you overdose on marijuana, you end up super mellow, free of all nausia, and very, very hungry. I can see why one is banned for being evil while the other is going to be sold for huge profits.

derivatives of marijuana have been available in the pharmacy for years- it's called marinol, made to act like marijuana (which it doesn't) to control the pain and nausea as marijuana does (but IT doesn't)

Once the feds find a way to tax marijuana, it will be legalized. BUT- I think medical marijuana should be legal anyway

Default Marijuana

Interesting, didn't know about this inverse-marijuana drug. Another reminder how the drug laws are not even remotely related to health, safety and social impact. A synthetic chemical with an anger-inducing reaction is viewed as ok and something to make a buck off, whereas a peace-inducing herb is something to throw people in jail for.

Since Marinol is just synthetic THC, it doesn't have all the other cannabinoids present in marijuana. (THC is tetrahydrocannabinol, which is just one cannabinoid out of over 60.) These other cannabinoids significantly contribute to marijuana's medicinal properties, such as cannabidiol (CBD), which offers anti-convulsant properties that help multiple sclerosis patients. So Marinol is very limited, and pointless to use in comparison to the superior natural product, in my opinion.

It's like making synthetically produced beta-carotene legal, and carrots illegal. The natural carrot is actually much more healthful since it contains a full array of carotenes, and not just one. Carotenes work together, like B vitamins. And so do cannabinoids. But there's not much profit in carrots or an herb that grows so fast, it's nicknamed "weed".

Being able to brew your own beer and wine only became legal for individuals in the U.S. after 1978. The big breweries didn't want people making their own and didn't want competition springing up, so it was made "illegal". If you look at laws carefully, you'll see that it's not your interests that are being protected by them, as we tend to naturally assume. Just look at the current laws with gambling. It's illegal in many states, yet the state governments themselves can engage in gambling by selling lottery tickets because they're making the profits.

Marijuana is unfortunately caught up in this crazy system of corruption. The original laws were driven by industries that wanted the competition of hemp fiber (from the marijuana plant) out of the picture. And since hemp is a cheaply produced crop, the hemp industry didn't have the big corporate money to fight back. And so now it's "illegal" even though it doesn't induce violence (as alcohol does), isn't physically addictive (as alcohol is), doesn't destroy your health (as alcohol does), and doesn't cause overdoses since it's non-toxic (such as the fatal overdoses caused by alcohol on a daily basis, particularly with college kids binging at drinking parties).

Another problem keeping marijuana illegal is that it's associated with the peace movement during the 60s. Governments don't like their perpetual wars coming into question and rallied against. Substances that tend to make people more peaceful and respectful towards the world as a whole, is an attitude that threatens the status-quo. So we now have corporate industry and the government both with invested interests in keeping marijuana illegal. I hate to be so pessimistic, but I don't think marijuana will be made legal anytime soon in the U.S.

I think the only current realistic answer for the individual is to very discreetly grow it yourself. Laws that make nature illegal are laws to be ignored. Just keep it out of site of Big Brother and enjoy the benefits of peace and health.
