Hi, everyone new on this forum, looking for some advise, on or about a year I returned from Iraq, after spending 15 months in contry (Iraq) now I was diagnose with high presure, by my primary doctor to use avapro 150mg, since I work on active duty here in PR. I received my first 30 days supply after that I went to pick up my refill and to my surprise Tricare no longer cover this medication, because it is to expensive.

My doctor contacted the company that provide the approval in order for this to be process and he was told that, since I DON'T pay for medications, he has to reasigned another medication that is within their approval list. Now the doctor reasigned me another medication for the High Preasure and the medication hasn't been approved.

Does anyone ever has been thru this burocracy or is it just me alucinating?

I fill like I won the battle in Iraq even known, I lost some close friends and lost the Battle here, were we really don't have a thru value for those who make big money and thats all they care about.

Now I asked my self, will I follow the doctors advised or some one behind a desk that is looking foward to save some money to the big money makers and dosen't know jack about health.

SFC C.

Welcome back and glad youre safe. We're a retired military family and also have Tri-Care. They are changing medications to what they call 3rd tier genetic.

This upsets us due to the fact that when my husband served we were to receive free medical for life. All that changed under the Bush 41 administration. Now have co-pays and of course we cannot complain about the cost of medications as a 90 suplly is $9 and for some $3. We have it better than most.

The bureaucratic red tape can be frustrating.

Merry Christmas and bless you for serving.

Thanks, Lacey Ex

It's sad and makes me fill, don't know how to tell you, how does it fill, after all you go thru and this is how soldiers get paid, thanks to Mr. Bush.

It doesn't make you feel warm and fuzzy for sure. It was Bush the elder that was in office when this passed-not the current one.

Good luck.

Welcome to yhe forum,Cardopr..My sil is retired from the AF with a disability..His wife who has complications from chemo and radiation had to find a job with good prescription insurance, because Tricare would not pay for her expensive meds and tests that she has to have periodically..Her H just recently found a job with excellent health Insurance so his wife dropped the insurance at her job..Thanks for your service..Sometimes it is embarrassing that our veterans are treated with so little respect from the country they give up so much to defend..

All I can tell you is I take a generic version of Tenoretic for high blood pressure and it is one of the really cheap drugs.

Cardop, welcome to the forum and welcome back home. I have never personally dealt with your situation, but wanted to let you know that we've found several generic drugs to be just as good as the original ones. When a company develops a new drug, it is allowed to be the only drug for a certain amount of time~like 5 years. After that, the other makers can sell generics. They're much cheaper because they didn't do all the research in discovering it. Generally, they're just fine. Good luck to you.

Just sort of a bummer of a side note~DH is from a military family and he and his other three bros have always had to struggle with the V.A. and continued care. One of his bros had been injured in Viet Nam and was treated quite shabilly for years. It shouldn't have to be this way for all the sacrifices that military families have made. But on a happier note, we've had nephews who have followed the tradition.
