OK!!! I have never made a New Years resolution before but I was already planning on quitting smoking again so I thought, hey, why not then?! But I need some help..... I know you have all of you have done a thread like this one before so I'm calling on everyone. Please reply with all things disgusting about smoking to remind me why I'm quitting. I would greatly appreciate it as well as my roommate who is quitting with me. And if you have any tips, I wouldn't mind that either. I quit with the patch last time and I plan to use that again. Thanks for all your help.... and remember! Smoking is gross, tell me why!
Smoking dries out your skin and causes wrinkles..One day you will look in the mirror and will see that you have "pucker lips" that no amount of makeup will hide
Smelling tobacco smoke is about as unpleasant as sitting behind a deisel bus at a stop light. I walk out of my way to avoid being in the presence of smokers, even outdoors.
As for quitting: I had an uncle who smoked several packs a day for more than 50 years. One day he quit cold turkey and never smoked another cigarette for the rest of his life. When I asked him how he did it, he replied simply, I decided to quit! It really was that simple...for him at least. If you haven't made a firm decision to quit, anything and everything that you do to break that nasty habit will result in failure. On the other hand, once you make the decision to quit, nothing can stop you.
may the rest of your life be a smoke free life.....Franco
Bad skin, bad hair, wrinkles, horrible breath, your home and clothes smell like ash, yellow finger tips, stained teeth, raspy voice after long term use, inability to participate in strenuous sports, irritable without your pacifier (cig), and hundreds of dollars poorer than you could have been if you weren't smoking
I don't think smokers themselves are disgusting. What I do find disheartening is that it is so blatantly dangerous to one's health. Yes, I know other things are too, but smoking ranks up there at the top.
You'll be able to walk and run faster, take the stairs without getting winded.
One of the biggest things is that you'll no longer be psychologically chained to the pattern of smoking....needing a cigarette after dinner, needing one when you wake up, or right before bed. You'll actually feel free from the psychological ramifications of smoking!
Good luck. I know you can be successful!
don't be hard on yourself or sit in judgment, it is an addiction, not a moral weakness or judgment. attending a 12-step program is helpful for understanding the emotional reasons behind why people smoke making it more conducive to quitting
The smell of the smoker and the annoyance it causes the non-smokers you go out with who have to wait for you to finish a cigarette before you go anywhere. Good Luck!!!
