My eyes are red and burning. I've been on City-Data all day, using it as a way to avoid any of my new year's resolutions. Now my eyes are burning. Why? What causes this?

Probably from sitting at the computer all day. lol

Do you sit too close to the monitor? Lean forward closer to it? If so, try leaning back away from the monitor. Move your chair back a little. If your chair tilts back the way mine does, tilt away from the monitor.

Take breaks, get up and move around. Close your eyes for a few minutes.
Get an anti-glare screen. It helps a lot with less eye irritation. I don't know if I could live without mine.

My eyes sometimes get dry from looking at the computer screen for too long. I just use some eye drops and that seems to refresh them, also I take breaks from sitting in front of the computer. If I have a bad day where I cant really go outside that much cuz of my panic attacks, and am on the computer all day, I force myself to get up and walk around at different times to give my eyes a rest and to stretch my legs.

People often stare when they look at the computer, that is, they don't blink their eyes so they get red.

Staring at an object at fixed distance for a long period of time will strain the eyes. The simplest thing to do is to simply get in the habit of looking away at other things from time to time. You can even still think on your City Data posts, but just physically focus your eyes for a few seconds on something else. That'll help alot.

Here's a good article on this:

I'm blinking more. Hopefully this will help. Also, one of the dogs here has drops for dry eyes. I'll borrow some.

thanks everyone,
