I just turned 56 a couple of weeks ago. I don't dress like an old lady, I don't go to old lady places. I don't THINK old. My same age friends, and older, are not "old". We have fun, we party, we go on vacations. I have pets that keep me going, I have a BF that is 12 years younger and I have to stick pins in him to get him going.

Lately, it's been dawning on me that 60 is just around the corner. What am I supposed to do or feel like in another 4 years? Heck, hopefully have even more fun! By the time I can retire, I hope to still be hopping around and getting to all those parties and places I can't get to yet as frequently as I'd like to.

I think if you think that your chronological age is "supposed" to determine what you should look like, think like and act like, then it will.
vp I am shocked. I have seen your picture and never in a million years would I have guessed your age...at least 10 years younger. Now that just confirms what I said all along... age is only a number.

First, I wish people weren't so swayed in opinion by what the media says...and that applies to so many topics in today's world.

With that said I know many 35-70+ yr old women who are in the best shape of their life.
And that goes mentally, physically, emotionally.
It is all about an attitude. YOU have the choice of how YOU want to feel.
Some people throw in the towel too quick. It's totally a mindset.

I have women in my workout classes who range in age from 35-75...and no one demonstrates the 'getting old' mindset.
One woman is a former olympic skater and she is in better shape now than she was 25+ yrs ago....no pills, no going under the knife...it's all about the attitude.

Default its about balance!!

i am not old enough to tell you from personal experience how i will be at 50.. but here is what i do know.
health is a process.. its about balance. if you ignore your body when you feel well, and only attend to it when you feel ill.. eventually, enough things will go wrong and you will feel "old" regardless of your age.
i treat people all the time that tell me... "well i have done it this way for years and its gotten me this far!" then again... they think that illness, arthritis, heart disease is a process of age... it is not, and there is, and never has been any evidence to prove otherwise. don't get me wrong.. these things do show up with age, but its because of an imbalance that went unnoticed for yrs... symptoms are not the begining of a problem.. by the time you have symptoms, the problem has been there for much much longer than you may know. i am almost promise you (with about 90% certainty) that at 50 you may have hypochlorhydria, and therefore not digesting food properly... which means no energy. i can also tell you that most seniors have reduced intrinsic factor, and therefore CAN NOT absorb vitamin b12... not even as a vitamin (sublingual may work though).. and this again will give you fatigue and make you feel "old"
my point is this.. many people feel run down and chalk it up to age, but really its a cry for help by your body. on my webpage i purposely put a picture of a senior that is built.. he has the body of a 20 yr old.. just to show people, growing old, getting fat, living in pain, and just fading away is not your only possibility.. you can be full of energy, happy and healthy, like many others on this thread seem to be!
