After a hip replacement and a shoulder surgery (3 torn tendons).......I don't think so!!! We are 58 and 59 years old and there is absolutely NO WAY that we can do some of the things that we did when we were in our 30's/40's.

YES! I absolutely agree. I'm 53 and feel just good as I did at 30, maybe even better. My mother is 89 and still going pretty strong for her age, she lives alone and still drives.
Again, it is all individual and I believe it has to do with a little everything. Good genes help, eating the right foods, exercise of course. Those that have not worked out regularly through their lifetime or haven't taken care of themselves throughout the years who expect to jump into it later in life, of course will have a difficult time with it. I don't know if anyone has seen some of these stars lately that are well into their 40's and 50's but they look fabulous...http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee109/jeannie216/2007-11-26-1634-52.jpg (broken link)...I can feel for some who are feeling their age but others, well they just aren't, or at least not as much as some, they take care of themselves and it shows.

heh
Well, when you consider the alternative....
I felt great at 50 but since then (I'm 53) I've had an issue or two, some of them natural (change of life stuff) some of them not.
All things considered, I am just fine, but 30, I'm not.
Ever notice that when a Hollywood Celebrity who was big years ago but has not been seen for awhile attempts to make a come back the media will laugh at the person and tell us how much they have aged and how terrible they look? The result is many aging Movie and TV stars have plastic surgery and Botox. If getting old and looking middle aged was so great, no one would bother. 50 is the new 70!

And if you base your self-esteem on Hollywood, then you've got bigger problems than some gray hair and wrinkles!
Well, being 50 is NOT being 60 (like we are almost). Yes, older celebrates can look very good......heck, so could I if I had their money!!! We people, like us, have physical "limitations" like the wife and I do, feeling 10 to 20 years younger just isn't there. But, there are times when I do act younger than 58. Oh I have so much fun during those times dancing around in the living room with my wife. Of course, having a hip replacement and shouder surgery doesn't mean I'm dead yet. Summer comes, get the boat out and go flying across a lake playing ACDC, Queen or ZZ Top on the CD player. Now that is fun.

Yet another Boomer unable to face mortality........
30 is 30, 50 is 50. You can certainly be fabulous at 50, saw Rachel Welch on TV recently and she is fabulous at 70, but 30 you are not.
Life has stages, enjoy them as they come. While I may wish I had the body I had at 18, I'm sure glad I'm not as stupid.
