I don't think they have any sort of taste at all. They are good for me, though so I spread them on my sandwiches.

I always put a few slices on my veggie sandwich for lunch. At night I cut some pieces and include them in the salad. I remember someone telling me once that they are like "veggie meat." I can get them for just under $1.00 around here.

I like them and get some great varieties at the farmer's market. Hass are fine (they were actually originally cultivated in my home town), but there are so many others. Reeds are great and very large, with small seeds. Lately I've been getting Fuerte, which are creamy and wonderful. However, the vendor I buy from at the farmer's market told me that many California growers are taking out their avocado trees and putting in table grapes, which use less water and are more profitable, as they bear every year--whereas many avocado trees bear every other year. So we will be getting more and more imported avocados instead of the wonderful, local California ones.

I bought 4 avocados last Sunday. I ate 3 avocados this week. Would have had the 4th, but one was just too overripe and was black inside by today. Yuck.
