Roseanne Barr revealed earlier this week that she is going blind. In an interview with The Daily Beast, the 62-year-old comic talked about her struggle with macular degeneration and glaucoma — two eye diseases that get progressively worse over time and can steal vision.

Barr's doctors haven't provided a timeline, but her symptoms are worsening: "My vision is closing in now," she said. "I just try and enjoy vision as much as possible. Y'know, living it up."

Very sad. Glad she is bringing awareness to it.

I don't personally care for her comic or acting style ( but that's a personal opinion) but it's sad to hear she's having health issues

Interesting article in regards to prevention (or at least slowing).

At my last visit, the eye doctor mentioned that he could see that both my husband and I ate "leafy greens" - Im not sure how he cold tell though. I do most the other things on the list too - exercise, eat nuts and berries, wearing sunglasses. I've gotten much better about the sunglasses since Im trying to encourage my daughter to wear her more.

After 35 or so, I quit going to "glasses in an hour" mall type places and found eye doctor who was less focused on selling high end frames, etc. Unfortunately, out military insurance paid for a annual exam while my husband was active duty, but only pays for a exam every other year now that he is retired.
