So I am 22 years old and my hairline is slowly receding! I don't know what to do or why its happening! My diet is fairly healthy I stopped drinking alcohol about 1 month ago and I am taking zinc and iron supplements and using tea tree oil and my hair line continues to recede. What should I do?
I'd not get too carried away with herbal pills and potions and just except the fact that you are losing your hair early.(Genetic?)
You could run it past your doctor just to make sure its not a symptom of something else.
Rogaine is topical and you can get that OTC.
Propecia, aka Finasteride, and also Avodart aka Dutasteride are prescription only.
Generally prescribed for BPH (benign prostate hyperplasia).
Both drugs block DHT which causes hair thinness and baldness.
I also use Nioxin shampoo that seems to give more body.
I use a product called X Fusion that is actually fibers that adhere and fill in "sparse" areas.
Lots of tricks, but no cure for baldness other than transplants and the like.
I have been on Propecia for years and still have "ok" hair at age 62.
My father was completely bald by age 40 and his brothers as well.
I still have recession and hate getting haircuts.
Best bet is to see a doctor and slow the loss down.
Get an overall physical. I lost half my hair in one month - turned out I was very ill (I'm female so the rapid pace of it was even more alarming)
Go to a dermatoligist - the sooner they start hairloss treatment the better
I take a supplement by Reserveage - Keratin booster - and it helps. Not sure the timing is right for you, seems it is mostly targeted at women "of a certain age" - but, I did notice a difference fairly quickly.

Good post. To add to this, Propecia can be ordered without a prescription through online pharmacies, but the OP shouldn't have much trouble securing a RX if he chooses.
